Building a world, one character at a time.

OK Computer

  1. Lexi chose her character's ancestry (Astral Elf), while her name (OK Computer), role (Clockmaker/Watchmaker), and age were randomly generated from our tables.
  2. What is this character’s name? - OK Computer (yup, just like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Radiohead...)
  3. What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Astral Elf
  4. What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Traveling Clockmaker / Magical Engineer (Artificer). Living in the Astral Sea, OK Computer crafts intricate clocks, watches, and timepieces. Beyond normal horology, she builds hidden weapons directly into her devices—such as a clock that functions as a lethal, weighted combat yo-yo. She travels across planar hubs selling her mechanical inventions to fund medical treatments for her ailing father.
  5. How old are you? - Young Adult
  6. Describe your physical appearance. - OK Computer is a 5'2" Astral Elf with pale, near-vampiric skin and dark navy-blue hair. She has striking light-blue eyes speckled with light brown flecks and unique, star-shaped pupils. She wears a pleated cut-skirt over dark leggings, sturdy boots, a plain shirt, and a heavy utility belt lined with various clocks and pocket watches. Round steampunk-style goggles rest atop her head, and she wears magical jewelry embedded with glowing gems and crystals.
  7. Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Moody, Confident, and Spiritual (A cheerful yet volatile "ball of emotions").
  8. What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Valuable Item—The Astral Dragon Map: OK Computer possesses a secret map leading directly to the lair of an ancient, friendly Astral Dragon named Aasria. Aasria was spared by OK Computer's adventuring grandfather and remains a loyal family ally, holding immense treasure and time-manipulation abilities. Family Secret: OK Computer's mother was killed by a rival dragon order, prompting her father to fall gravely ill and leaving OK Computer to run the family trade alone.
  9. What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Avenging the Family Honor. OK Computer recruits or hires the adventuring party to track down and eliminate the humanoid allies serving the rival dragon that killed her mother.
  10. What would be their reward for succeeding? - Dragon Hoard Cut & Mechanical Power-Ups. If the party succeeds, OK Computer grants them a share of treasure from her family's allied dragon, Aasria. If the party fails their initial attempt, OK Computer's forgiving nature kicks in: she upgrades the party's gear with custom, weaponized clockwork gadgets and sends them back out to finish the job.
  11. What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Revoked Upgrades. If the party fails, OK Computer holds no permanent grudge and patiently offers to outfit them for a second attempt. However, if the party betrays her and allies with her mother's killer, OK Computer instantly revokes and strips away any mechanical power-ups or gadgets she previously crafted for them.

Optional Questions - not required

  • What are the goals and motivations of your character? - OK Computer's primary motivation is earning enough coin through her clockmaking trade to pay for her sick father's medical treatments. Her secondary goal is obtaining closure and justice for her mother's death.
  • How do these affect your general personality? - She is a confident, emotionally expressive individual who oscillates between cheerful enthusiasm for her mechanical crafts and deep, sullen moodiness when reflecting on her family's tragedy.
  • How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - She is deeply devoted to her sick father and her dragon ally Aasria. Around adventurers, she is confident, forgiving, and open to collaboration, assuming most people are capable of doing good until proven otherwise.
  • Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - She speaks Common and Elvish with an earnest, youthful cadence. Her physical idiosyncrasies include constantly adjusting her steampunk goggles on her forehead and nervously fidgeting with or tuning the pocket watches on her belt.
  • What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - Operating out of the Astral Sea, OK Computer has introduced specialized, weaponized horology to planar travelers, providing unique mechanical defense items to local communities while maintaining an active link to ancient Astral Dragon lore.
  • Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - She is anchored by her father's failing health. Because she must constantly care for her sick father and sell clocks to afford his ongoing medical care, OK Computer cannot go off hunting rival dragon factions on her own, leaving her dependent on outside adventuring proxies.
