- This is a character that Tony Vasinda rolled for randomly using our tables.
- What is this character’s name? - Sunnie Pondborn. "Pondborn" is a notation given to them because the local gravedigger found them as a small child floating in a graveyard's water feature.
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Giff (Hippofolk)
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Apprentice Gravedigger. Having floated down an Astral River into the Prime Material Plane, Sunnie was adopted by a local cemetery groundskeeper and his wife. Sunnie serves as an overly enthusiastic, cheerful apprentice gravedigger who digs graves, makes mud angels, and offers comfort to grieving visitors.
- How old are you? - Child (about 4 feet tall, with the demeanor of an 8- or 9-year-old).
- Describe your physical appearance. - Sunnie is a cherubic, chubby Giff child standing about 4 feet tall with big, round cheeks and a sweet, broad grin. They wear clothes that are slightly too small for their growing frame—their shirt pulls up over their round stomach, and their pants are snug around the legs. Sunnie is almost perpetually covered in mud from head to toe from making mud angels along the cemetery pond banks.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Curious, Innocent (Lacking worldliness), and Grateful.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Magic Item—The Flumph Summoning Stone: Sunnie possesses a naturally worn stone with a hole through the middle that allows them to summon a benevolent, telepathic Flumph once per day. The Flumph considers itself responsible for getting Sunnie back to the Astral Sea, though Sunnie is completely delighted with their new life digging graves on the Material Plane.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Medicine Escort. When Sunnie's adoptive father (the primary gravedigger) falls deathly ill, Sunnie must step outside the cemetery walls into the bustling city for the very first time. Because Sunnie has zero knowledge of how the city works, the adventuring party is hired to escort the naive Giff child across town to retrieve the medicine from a local alchemist.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - The Flumph's Esoteric Wisdom. Aside from a paltry financial tip from Sunnie's adoptive parents, Sunnie offers their ultimate reward: summoning their friend, the Flumph. The Flumph uses its natural telepathy and passive listening abilities to answer high-level, esoteric questions for the party, potentially revealing a hidden weakness of a local campaign villain who previously attended a funeral in that cemetery.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Astral Banishment. If the party refuses the quest or fails to save Sunnie's adoptive father, the grieving Giff child breaks down in tears. Overwhelmed by distress, the summoned Flumph activates its cosmic abilities to protect Sunnie, opening a rift that instantly drops the adventuring party into the Astral Sea.
