- This is a character that Nolan Paige rolled for randomly using our tables.
- What is this character’s name? - Proserpina (pronounced pro-SER-pee-nah). When operating undercover in mortal cities, she goes by the mundane street pseudonym "Percy".
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Archfey (posing as a teenage elf newsy).
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Undercover Spy / Market Barker. Rather than sending expendable underlings, Proserpina personally infiltrates burgeoning industrial steampunk cities disguised as a pushy, overly friendly teenage market barker/newsy. Handing out coupon flyers to passersby, she uses the disguise to observe human development, gather intelligence, and subtly steer mortal society away from dark magic and environmental destruction.
- How old are you? - Ancient Archfey (posing as a teenage Elven market barker).
- Describe your physical appearance. - In her street disguise as "Percy", she appears as a teenage elf with pointed ears, wearing a brightly colored shirt, dark suspenders, and newsy-style overalls. She wears round steampunk goggles resting on her forehead and carries a stack of market coupon flyers. In her true, undisguised Archfey form, she is a majestic, regal, and ancient fey monarch reminiscent of a high-fey queen like Galadriel.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Observant, Inquisitive, and Phony (Overly, uncomfortably friendly while in disguise).
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Magic Item—The Ivory Owl Statuette: Proserpina carries a carved ivory owl statuette that animates once per day, flying long distances across urban areas to deliver encoded intelligence reports directly to her hidden network of local fey agents.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Cleanse the Contaminated Pool. An industrial Mage Guild uphill has been dumping toxic magical runoff into an aquifer, contaminating a sacred central wishing fountain used by the city's populace. Proserpina hires or recruits the party to travel up to the pollution source, defeat the toxic threats, and restore the water source's natural purity.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - The Bottomless Coupon Book. If the party cleanses the water source, Proserpina rewards them with a seemingly ordinary market coupon book. Whenever a coupon is torn out, another instantly replaces it, granting the party permanent, endless discounts on healing potions, adventuring gear, and supplies across the local trade district.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Economic Disadvantage Curse. If the party refuses her plea or actively sides with the polluting Mage Guild, Proserpina subtly curses them. While keeping her Archfey identity concealed, she places a subtle hex on the party, imposing permanent disadvantage on all economic bartering and price persuasion checks across the city until the pollution issue is resolved.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Proserpina's primary goal is protecting the Feywild and natural ecosystems. Her secondary goal is altruistic stewardship—subtly guiding developing mortal civilizations away from self-destructive dark magic and ecological collapse.
- How do these affect your general personality? - She is exceptionally persuasive and adept at reading people. In her "Percy" persona, she acts like an annoying, overly pushy teenager handing out flyers; in her true form, she is a refined, articulate, and protective fey sovereign.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - She leads through charm, tact, and honeyed persuasion rather than Draconian fear. She knows precisely what to say to motivate each individual underling or adventuring proxy.
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - While disguised as Percy, she speaks Common in a nasally, fast-paced "newsy" cadence. When speaking privately to fey allies or fellow planar travelers, she seamlessly switches to fluent Silven delivered in a calm, regal, and aristocratic tone.
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - By personally operating on the front lines of mortal expansion, Proserpina has quietly sabotaged dangerous industrial projects and prevented planar breaches, preserving regional balances without alerting mortal authorities to her true nature.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - She is limited by her choice to operate personally and covertly. Because she refuses to delegate critical field ops to underlings who might get captured or studied by industrial mages, she often gets bogged down juggling multiple minor local crises simultaneously.
