- This is a character that DNDJordanLea is rolling for randomly.
- What is this character’s name? - Moon Moon.
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Fairy. While Moon Moon is technically a fairy, she is tiny (pixie-sized).
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Gloomstalker Ranger. Moon Moon is a protector who specializes in guarding the "dark spaces" of the world. She lives in a small glade situated dangerously close to a portal leading into the Shadowfell. She is a folk hero who discovered her path after saving her home village from a Shadowfell creature, an event that sparked her desire to explore and protect the fringes of the world.
- How old are you? - Young Adult.
- Describe your physical appearance. - She has long, curly black hair reaching her waist, styled in a half-up ponytail held together by a collection of seashells. One of these shells is home to her animal companion, Olly the tiny hermit crab. She wears dark browns, blues, and greens in light, "adventure-ready" leathers, eschewing furs to avoid overheating. She fights with a needle-like sword and uses a small racket to serve magically propelled blow-darts at her enemies. She possesses the ability to zip through the air with white and blue blurs of light.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Creative, Fiercely Loyal, and Competitive.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Secret—Lycanthropy. Moon Moon is afflicted with lycanthropy, transforming into a feral "were-chihuahua" under the full moon. Her companion Olly helps her manage this state, acting as a grounding presence to keep her from going completely feral.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Moonstone Path. Moon Moon needs the party to retrieve a shifting Moonstone located in a nearby mountain range. The stone only reveals itself during a full moon—the same time she is incapacitated by her transformation. She needs the stone to help her focus and block out the Shadowfell's negative influence, allowing her to retain her identity while in her animalistic state.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - Moon Moon provides the party with equipment she has gathered during her travels that is too large for her to use. She also gives each party member a sentimental "friendship necklace" featuring a moon and a hermit crab.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - If the call is refused, Moon Moon eventually loses her struggle against the lycanthropy and the Shadowfell’s influence, becoming a permanent, mindless monster. If the party fails to retrieve the stone, she remains a severe danger to herself and her glade, leaving Olly entirely alone to try and protect a friend who no longer recognizes him.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - She wants to protect her glade and ensure that the dark entities from the Shadowfell do not creep into the material world. She is also motivated by a desire to master her lycanthropy rather than cure it, viewing it as a part of her identity that she wants to control.
- How do these affect your general personality? - She is fiercely protective of Olly and her safe haven. She uses her creativity to think outside the box during combat, often utilizing the unique verticality and darkness of her glade to her advantage.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - She is initially wary but inquisitive. She is worldly enough to appreciate other travelers and is particularly interested in those with unique magical backgrounds, though she is always a bit competitive about her own "Braun" compared to a wizard's "Brains."
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - She speaks in a high-energy, rapid-fire, and highly competitive tone, occasionally dropping into whimsical fairy giggles when a creative combat plan hits her. Her primary physical idiosyncrasy involves a constant, defensive zipping through the air in chaotic, blurry zig-zag patterns of white and blue light to emphasize her points. She also has an endearing habit of tilting her head to whisper and point toward her waist seashell, treating Olly the hermit crab like an active, co-conspirator advisor in everyday conversations."
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - She has turned a feared, "haunted" forest into a place of subtle magic. She leaves gifts of flowers and twig dolls for local children, slowly changing the village's perception of the woods from a place of witches and monsters to a misunderstood sanctuary.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - Her severe, feral lycanthropic transformations completely compromise her autonomy during every single full moon. Because she cannot trust her own mind during these planetary shifts and is entirely dependent on a tiny hermit crab to keep her grounded, she is functionally tethered to the defensive perimeter of her glade.
