- This is a character that Mark Wilson is rolling for randomly.
- What is this character’s name? - Leeroy Jenkins.
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Human (Vampire).
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Painter. Seeking refuge from his chaotic past, Leeroy operates as a highly talented, anonymous fine art painter who focuses entirely on nature scenes, still life compositions, and capturing the fleeting, natural beauty of the world.
- How old are you? - Young Adult. He was turned relatively recently and is still actively processing the terrifying reality of his newfound immortality, looking ahead at a lifespan that will stretch for centuries.
- Describe your physical appearance. - Leeroy stands as a well-groomed, highly sophisticated human youth who explicitly rejects the ostentatious, debaucherous clothing styles traditionally associated with high-ranking vampire lords. Instead, he dresses in exceptionally plain, highly functional, and modest clothing—such as sand-colored desert robes or simple linen attire designed to limit sun exposure. While he bears a striking, identical physical resemblance to his legendary, loud-mouthed ancestor, he deliberately alters his posture, style, and grooming to avoid ever being recognized or compared to the old family myth.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Monastic, Polite, and Mysterious.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - A Cursed Magic Item—The Blood-Drinking Blade. Deep within his underground manor, Leeroy keeps a semi-sentient magical sword recovered from the very vampire lair where he was turned. The sword drinks and absorbs the blood it draws in battle and directly transfers that life force to heal its wielder. Leeroy utilizes this blade as an ethical loophole to quietly absorb blood from targets without killing them; however, the blade harbors a dark corruption mechanic. The more it feeds, the more it pushes its wielder toward a feral, monstrous persona, making it a constant psychological struggle for him to resist.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Retrieve the Friend's Portrait. A band of desert thieves infiltrated Leeroy's underground manor and stole a priceless, deeply cherished oil painting depicting a woman named Saffron—the only true friend from his former mortal life and his final anchor to his human soul. The thieves fled deep into a dangerous, sun-scorched stretch of the desert where Leeroy's vampiric vulnerabilities prevent him from surviving the trek. He recruits the party to track down the merchant caravan, infiltrate the thieves' camp, and safely bring his piece of history back.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - Ongoing Fine Art Commissions. Lacking hoards of stolen currency, Leeroy repays the party by acting as their official portrait painter. He creates highly customized, masterwork paintings of the adventuring party or their allies. These rare, high-quality portraits can either be hung in a player's stronghold to grant immense regional renown and prestige, or pawned to high-end collectors for a massive stack of gold.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - If the players accept the quest but allow the painting to be permanently destroyed, or if they outright refuse his plea, Leeroy's fragile grip on his human sanity snaps under a wave of deep paranoia. Believing the party has stolen the portrait for themselves or slighted his tragedy, he enters a dark downward spiral. Over the following sessions, he will deploy continuous waves of vampiric minions to ambush the party until he ultimately fully embraces his curse, does a complete 180 back to his loud-mouthed ancestral roots, and personally charges the party in a screaming, unhinged deathmatch.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Leeroy is desperately motivated to escape his past, find a permanent cure for his vampiric affliction, and quiet the corruption whispers of his magical sword. He wants to live a peaceful, contemplative life as a reclusive artist, maintaining just enough humanity to eventually return to the light.
- How do these affect your general personality? - His hyper-fixation on escaping his family's foolhardy reputation makes him incredibly soft-spoken, refined, and gentle. He refuses to ever interrupt others, completely defying the archetypal image of a reckless warrior to ensure his silent, beautiful art speaks for him.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - Leeroy is completely estranged from his surviving family, who abandoned him to the tomb after he fell in battle. When meeting planar adventurers like Sonia the Paladin, he drops his defensive guard entirely out of desperate, burning sincerity, openly admitting his undead nature and pleading for spiritual redemption while pointing toward his resting scabbard to confess his inner struggles.
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - He speaks Common in a quiet, measured, and deeply serene whisper. His primary physical idiosyncrasies include a habit of allowing the moonlight to catch his fangs for a brief, glinting instant before retreating back into the shadows, alongside a disturbing, habituated tic of holding intense, whispered side-dialogues directly with the pommel of his sword as if answering a voice no one else can hear.
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - Operating as a ghost under the sands of time, Leeroy has transformed a buried, forgotten desert temple into a hidden underground mansion. By introducing masterwork, anonymous oil paintings into the art galleries of the nearby oasis trade hub, his reclusive genius has quietly commanded massive market values, deeply influencing the high-society artistic culture of the region without anyone ever learning a monster painted them.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - He is completely constrained by his biology and environment. Because the harsh, blazing desert sun poses an immediate lethal threat to his young vampiric constitution, Leeroy is entirely incapable of embarking on long-distance daytime treks across the sands, leaving him fundamentally reliant on outside mortal proxies to secure his stolen legacy.
