- This is a character that Lauren Walsh is rolling for randomly.
- What is this character’s name? - Krongar.
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Slaad (Red). Krongar belongs to a chaotic race of bipedal, toad-like aberrations native to the outer planes.
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Town Mayor. Krongar is the self-proclaimed mayor of a solitary, floating chunk of debris out in the Astral Sea. He demands formal respect for his title despite ruling over a completely empty rock.
- How old are you? - Young Adult. He is quite young and acts with the petty vanity of an insecure teenager trying to solidify his authority.
- Describe your physical appearance. - Krongar is a bipedal toad-man with a large, flat head, though he is noticeably smaller than the typical eight-foot-tall brutes of his kind. He has a brilliant color gradient fading from a deep red on his back down to a bright orange underbelly. He sports an unkempt array of small, droopy tentacles around his jawline that resemble a teenager's patchy first attempts at growing a beard. He carries a small staff as a symbol of his office.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Dense, Witty, and Pompous.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Secret—Secretly a Cannibal. Krongar was banished to his isolated rock after violating Slaad hierarchy by trying to eat his fellow Kinsmen. Being a runt, he operated under the dense logic that eating other Slaads would physically make him grow larger.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Conquering Parade. Torn between isolation and a longing for company, Krongar tasks the adventuring party with traveling back to his old syndicate, the Midnight Rise. Depending on the party's approach, they must either execute a chaotic script of revenge against the Slaad leadership that banished him, or act as proxies to extend a diplomatic olive branch, pleading with the Slaad army to let him return to their grand invasion forces.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - Krongar offers up a literal pile of equipment, armor, and decent magical weapons that he looted from his former victims. The gear features noticeable claw marks and dents, which he instructs the players not to examine too closely.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - If the players refuse the call or fail his mission, Krongar drops his pompous political facade entirely and attacks the party out of desperation. Adventurers facing him must contend with his standard brute strength and the looming threat of his rake claws, which risk infecting characters with a Slaad tadpole that will eventually gestate and burst from their chests.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Krongar is deeply motivated by a desperate desire for relevance and community. He wants to be seen as a powerful ruler, but internally he simply misses his old group, frequently complaining about how long it has been since his last meal.
- How do these affect your general personality? - His banishment has made him incredibly defensive. He is highly pompous and will loudly demand attention from anyone passing by his rock, masking his deep loneliness with an arrogant insistence that he is a legitimate political leader.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - He treats everyone he encounters with an abrasive, disrespectful lack of deference, viewing others with a highly displeased face. However, he treats player characters like potential keys to his salvation, attempting to use his limited wits to coerce them into carrying out his final bid for freedom.
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - He speaks Common with a high-pitched, incredibly pompous, and nasal tone, attempting to mimic a sophisticated prime minister while heavily failing to mask his raw, insecure teenage voice. He maintains a highly displeased, permanent scowl on his toad-like face. His defining physical idiosyncrasy is a nervous, frantic twitching of the small, patchy tentacle nubs around his jawline, especially when he gets defensive about his empty rock or casually complains about how long it has been since he last ate a fellow kinsman.
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - His presence has turned an otherwise unremarkable, floating chunk of astral debris into a bizarre regional hazard. By standing at the edge of his rock and loudly demanding formal diplomatic deference from any passing planar ships, he actively disrupts local trade lanes, forcing seasoned astral sailors to navigate around his 'territory' just to avoid dealing with a screaming, miniature toad-man.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - He is completely stymied by his physical banishment and a total lack of transportation. Krongar is entirely marooned on a solitary piece of floating debris with absolutely no way to navigate the Astral Sea on his own, leaving him utterly dependent on passing adventuring parties to either carry his messages or provide a lift out of his empty kingdom.
