- This is a character that Steve Trinkl rolled for randomly.
- What is this character’s name? - Mirquo.
- What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Tabaxi.
- What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Falconer/Informant. By day, Mirquo operates as a skilled falconer, using his trained bird of prey to hunt and supply pelts to local townspeople. By night, he acts as an undercover operative for a Robin Hood-esque underground network (similar to the Harpers), using his falcon as a discreet messenger to thwart corrupt local officials.
- How old are you? - Young Adult. He is in the prime of his youth, well-built and sturdy without a single battle scar on his fur.
- Describe your physical appearance. - Mirquo is a tall, stocky Tabaxi built like a solid unit, featuring a dense, fluffy Maine Coon-style mane. His fur is mostly black with distinct charcoal-gray patches across his snout and chest. He has bright, wide yellow eyes and a broad, friendly, but slightly smarmy grin. He consistently wears a thick leather falconry glove on one hand, serving as the resting perch for his hunting bird, a ferocious falcon named Graybill.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Sly, Friendly, and Honorable.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - A Regional Secret—The Coastal Sea-Predators. Mirquo possesses secret intelligence regarding an emerging threat in the northern bayous: sea-monsters and giant marine beasts have begun crawling out of the water onto land, attacking pirates, coastal traders, and looting parties alike.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Library Book Recovery. Mirquo previously checked out an arcane tome on sigils from a neighboring town’s library to do research for his outlaw group, but the book was stolen during a pirate ambush on the northern coast before he could return it. Because he is wanted by the local guards and cannot enter the city without incurring massive late fees or arrest, he hires the party to travel north, fight off the aquatic sea-beasts, retrieve the book from the pirate ship, and return it to the library.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - The Pirate Hoard & Guild Contact. Mirquo permits the party to keep the entirety of the recovered pirate treasure hoard (minus whatever gold covers the library fee). Furthermore, returning the book delivers a secret coded message hidden inside the front cover, granting the party an official introduction to Mirquo's secret altruistic outlaw network.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Broken Networks. If the party refuses or fails to deliver the book, Mirquo avoids direct conflict, but his underground network suffers a massive communication breakdown, resulting in several of his Harper-style allies being captured by corrupt local authorities during their next operation.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Mirquo wants a quiet, comfortable life. He isn't driven by grand world-ending ambitions; he simply wants to hunt with his falcon, look out for the common folk on the outskirts of town, and eventually save enough coin to retire to a cozy rural cottage.
- How do these affect your general personality? - He is exceptionally laid-back, slow to anger, and easygoing. If a deal falls through, he rolls with the punches rather than holding a grudge.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - He speaks in subtle thieves' cant and coded language around his allies when in public to maintain plausible deniability. In private, he is warm and loyal, keeping track of his friends' kids' birthdays. He is an only child with no surviving family, treating his falcon Graybill as his closest companion.
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - He speaks Common with a smooth, smarmy Cajun/Bayou drawl (akin to Gambit from the X-Men), occasionally letting out subtle, feline hisses on his S sounds.
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - Working quietly from the outskirts of major walled cities, Mirquo uses his birds and covert connections to expose corrupt mayors and sheriffs, ensuring the wealthy elite cannot exploit the local farming communities.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - He is entirely limited by a lack of personal ambition. Mirquo has zero interest in confronting world-ending cults or planar threats, preferring to stay grounded in local, small-scale community protection.
