Sidekicks & Sidequests

Building a world, one character at a time.

Daisy

  1. Hybrid / Mix-and-Match. Scxrlet64 brought a core concept parameter (a dragon NPC who acts as a quest giver) and used random table rolls.
  2. What is this character’s name? - Daisy. The true name could be something like "Daziferatusdoxilon".
  3. What is their ancestry (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc)? - Silver Dragon (posing in an Aldatu / Half-Celestial mortal disguise).
  4. What is your job or role (i.e. farmer, hierling/mercenary, shopowner, bandit, etc)? - Trust Fund Baby / High-Society Student & Philanthropist. Daisy is a young silver dragon living off her parents' massive hoard in an opulent flat in downtown Waterdeep. While attending an elite boarding school for magic, she acts as a prominent socialite, hosting high-society galas and organizing fundraisers for orphanages and temples. Beneath her superficial glamour, she seeks to build her own independent hoard of religious artifacts and establish herself as a venerated demigod.
  5. How old are you? - Teenager / Young Dragon (roughly 57–58 years old in dragon chronology; appears as a humanoid teenager).
  6. Describe your physical appearance. - In her Aldatu disguise, Daisy appears as a statuesque, impeccably dressed young woman with granite-like, marbleized skin etched with subtle silver metallic runes. She has flowing silver hair pulled into a high, cheerleader-style ponytail, and possesses a pair of feathered, statuesque wings crafted from pure silver. She wears high-end designer attire (Gucci/Versace equivalent), glittering highlighter makeup, and styled silver nails, radiating a brilliant, unmissable celestial sheen.
  7. Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Glamorous, Ambitious, and Infallible (Possessing teenage invincibility and a misguided sense of authority).
  8. What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept or particular person (i.e. family member, guild member, honor, justice, love etc.) - Secret Lore—The Crescent's Edge: Daisy knows the exact location of the Crescent's Edge, a legendary, moonlit holy scythe used 2,000 years ago by a warrior of Selûne. Entombed in a monster-infested dungeon, the scythe gains different magical properties based on the waxing and waning phases of the moon, culminating in an avatar transformation during a full moon. Corrupt Official Secret: Daisy discovered that her boarding school headmaster (a member of the Waterdeep Board of Education) made a dark contract with a devil from the Nine Hells, granting him complete invulnerability to all attacks except a strike delivered by the Crescent's Edge.
  9. What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Headmaster's Downfall. Seeking to eliminate her corrupt, devil-bound headmaster before he sacrifices more students, Daisy recruits an adventuring party to first retrieve the Crescent's Edge from its ancient tomb, use it to assassinate the headmaster, and frame a rival corrupt official to clean up the city's board of education.
  10. What would be their reward for succeeding? - Massive Hoard Cut & Borrowing the Crescent's Edge. Daisy pays the party handsomely in gold from her developing hoard. With a high enough Persuasion check, she will even temporarily lend the party the legendary Crescent's Edge for the duration of their mortal lives, placing a magical tracking ward on the weapon so it automatically teleports back to her hoard upon their deaths.
  11. What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Consequence of Refusal: Student Sacrifices. If the party ignores the quest, the corrupt headmaster continues his dark rituals, causing a sharp rise in student mortality across the city's academies. Consequence of Failure: Framing or Contract Transfer. If the party fails the assassination or fails to frame the rival, they face immediate arrest by city guards. Alternatively, the headmaster's devil patron activates a clause in the contract, forcing the failing party member to inadvertently multiclass into a Warlock under the devil's service or face banishment to the Blood War.

Optional Questions - not required

  • What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Daisy's primary goal is amassing her own independent hoard of religious relics to increase her dragon power. Her secondary goal is gaining the adoration of the populace to eventually ascend as a benevolent demigod inspired by her idol, Bahamut.
  • How do these affect your general personality? - She presents a polished, overly confident, and theatrical persona. While genuinely altruistic and eager to do good, she suffers from teenage impatience and naivety, assuming everyone adores her and getting annoyed when mortals question her authority or try to haggle.
  • How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - She is sweet but demanding toward her wealthy parents, eager to get more allowance for shopping. Around commoners and orphans, she acts like a generous, glittering patron. Around adventurers, she speaks with absolute authority, showering them with practiced flattery to recruit them as her personal champions.
  • Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - She speaks Common and Draconic in an excessively posh, aristocratic cadence. Physical idiosyncrasies include sloshing a martini glass around while talking, giggling musically, posing for imaginary crowd photo-ops, and quoting angsty bardic ballads (reminiscent of 2000s gothic rock).
  • What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - Daisy is a well-known teenage socialite and philanthropist across Waterdeep, raising thousands of gold pieces for local orphanages and soup kitchens while using her high-society connections to influence city politics.
  • Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - She is limited by her young age and financial dependency. Because she is still a young dragon living off her parents' allowance without her own fully established lair or adult hoard, she lacks the direct power to confront high-level planar threats on her own.
