Building a world, one character at a time.

Wren

  1. Randomized / Character Generation. Nicole (GameMasterMom) brought the character concept of Wren from her Tales of Etheria book series and rolled physical dice on air.
  2. What is this character’s name? - Wren.
  3. What is their ancestry? - Half-Orc (A tall 12-year-old tween with a light-greenish skin tone, human-like features, and subtle lower-incisor tusks).
  4. What is your job or role? - Student Grave Cleric. Wren is a 12-year-old student attending the Heroes Academy of Etheria, specializing in grave-domain clerical studies while quietly navigating the social dynamics of middle school.
  5. How old are you? - Child. Tween (12 years old; noticeably taller than most of her classmates).
  6. Describe your physical appearance. - Wren is a tall, demure half-orc girl with light mint-greenish skin, prominent lower tusks, and a quiet, brooding posture. She dresses in a dark-purple hooded cowl draped over lighter purple robes, giving off a gothic, slightly witchy aesthetic that frightens or confuses other students at first glance.
  7. Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Spooky, Shy, and Misfit.
  8. What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept? - Lore—Mind-Reading Cake Baking: Wren secretly researched a self-study baking technique in the academy library. She can bake special cakes that allow her to read the minds of anyone who eats them for a full 24 hours regardless of distance. Socially awkward and demure, she uses these cakes as an indirect, roundabout attempt to understand her peers and make friends, though her uncanny insights often frighten other students into thinking she cursed them.
  9. What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - The Missing Ghost Professor. Distraught over the sudden disappearance of an influential spirit professor from the academy's religious studies department, Wren hires passing adventurers to investigate the catacombs, solve the ancient ward puzzles, and free the ghost from an old lead-lined soul jar.
  10. What would be their reward for succeeding? - Mind-Reading Cake Recipe. Upon rescuing the spirit professor, Wren rewards the party by sharing her secret culinary magic recipe, teaching them how to bake mind-reading cakes (provided they supply rare mythic ingredients, such as ethically sourced owlbear eggs or unicorn dander).
  11. What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - Wren's Guilt & Permanent Ghost Trapping. If the party refuses or fails the quest, Wren becomes deeply disheartened by adult apathy. The spirit professor remains trapped in the soul jar indefinitely, leaving the academy's upcoming generation of heroes deprived of essential historical and theological guidance.

Optional Questions - not required

  • What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Wren wants to master her grave-domain magic, excel in her academy classes, and secretly overcome her social anxiety to make genuine friends.
  • How do these affect your general personality? - She is extremely quiet, demure, and observant, relying on facial expressions, body language, and subtle gestures rather than speaking out loud.

  • What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - She is the infamous "goth girl" around the academy hall—misunderstood as a creepy necromancer by fellow students, despite being a gentle grave cleric who just wants to fit in.
  • Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - Her extreme shyness, fear of rejection, and lack of social confidence hold her back from directly approaching her fellow academy classmates.
