4. What is your job or role? - Vermin Rancher & Farmhand. Thorsten is a teenage troglodyte working on a cooperative, multi-species Underdark ranch in "Freetown," raising and herding giant guinea pigs and other small cavern beasts for food and trade.
5. How old are you? - Teenager (Roughly the human equivalent of 16 years old; scrawny and still growing into his broader troglodyte frame).
6. Describe your physical appearance. - Thorsten is a scrawny teenage troglodyte with leathery grayish-brown scales, a long tail, and beady eyes. He wears a loose-fitting, draping poncho over wrap-around harem pants specifically designed with an overlapping seam for his tail to stick out. He carries a long shepherd’s staff fitted with a pool-skimmer-like net at the end to retrieve runaway guinea pigs from deep cavern crags.
7. Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - "Himbo" (Gentle/Silly), Protector, and Isolated.
8. What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept? - Lore—Lullaby Pan Flute: Thorsten carries a pan flute and knows a specific lullaby that can put creatures to sleep (mechanically casting the Sleep spell). As an accidental "baby bard," he originally discovered this melody as a child during an attack on his family's home to help his family escape. He currently uses high-pitched pan flute tunes to herd his skittish guinea pigs over long distances through cavernous echo chambers (using white-cap dampening mushrooms in his own ears so he doesn't fall asleep while playing).
9. What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Tailing the Missing Ranchhand. Overworked and unable to abandon his duties on the ranch, Thorsten hires adventurers to quietly follow a younger farmhand who has been shirking responsibilities, locate where several prize guinea pigs have gone missing, and determine if the younger rancher has fallen in with a bad crowd.
10. What would be their reward for succeeding? - Sleep Spell Instruction & Route Knowledge. Thorsten rewards the party by transcribing his pan flute music, teaching a spellcasting or musical party member how to cast/cooperatively harmonize the Sleep spell. He also shares safe, secret Underdark travel routes and offers free room and board at the ranch.
11. What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - The Outlaw Desperado Arc. If the party refuses or fails, the young farmhand falls deeper into the Underdark criminal underworld, eventually returning years later at the head of a gang of Underdark desperados to raid Freetown. The town holds the party in low regard, and the tragedy forces Thorsten to leave his peaceful ranching life behind to become an adventuring PC hunting down his former friend.

With player characters? - He treats the ranchers (like his boss, the bearded Duergar woman Brolwin) with deep loyalty and respects travelers, though he is fiercely brave and ready to stand his ground against Underdark predators like Bulettes or Hook Horrors.
• Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - He speaks in a simple, earnest, slightly folksy tone. He frequently interacts with his favorite guinea pigs using his tail to give them gentle "butt-pats."
