- Randomized / Character Conversion. Mat (host of Role Play Chat) brought a former Warhammer Fantasy roleplay character concept named Ambrose and rolled physical dice on air.
- What is this character’s name? - Ambrose Eusebius.
- What is their ancestry? - Human.
- What is your job or role? - Exterminator Cleric & Plague Doctor. Ambrose is a specialized cleric of Kelemvor (or a similar deity of death and healing) who travels to remote frontier villages to hunt down, isolate, and exterminate the root causes of disease, vermin, and blights.
- How old are you? - Young Adult (In his early-to-mid 20s; a remarkably young priest given his high standing and dark responsibilities).
- Describe your physical appearance. - On duty, Ambrose wears a leather plague doctor mask with a long, beak-like nose, sweeping robes, and carries a heavy iron staff tipped with a sharp hook for handling the infected. Beneath the mask, he is a strikingly handsome, Prince Charming-like young man with chiseled features, piercing blue eyes, and flowing, perfectly groomed blonde hair that he obsessively maintains.
- Describe yourself with 3 adjectives. - Bold, Fearless, and Vain.
- What is a valuable item/piece of lore/secret that this character possesses? Or do they value an ideal/concept? - Ideal—Extreme Practical Nihilism: Deep down, Ambrose holds a dark, nihilistic conviction that mortal life is fleeting and doomed. When confronted with contagious illness, he abandons all traditional pastoral mercy, believing it is far better to ruthlessly purge or burn five infected villagers in a locked town hall than risk the spread of disease to the wider realm.
- What is a particular quest you would be willing to recruit or hire the player characters to go do? - Purifying the Contaminated Spring. Stationed in a secluded frontier lumber town, Ambrose hires passing adventurers to scout the nearby forest and slay a vile abomination (or troll) that is actively infecting the village’s water supply.
- What would be their reward for succeeding? - Periapt of Health & Divine Favors. Upon eliminating the source of the infection, Ambrose rewards each party member with a Periapt of Health (a rare pendant granting immunity to diseases). He keeps an overabundance of these items, viewing them as useless tools compared to his own drastic purging methods.
- What would be the consequence of failure or refusing the call? - The Eusebian Heresy (Regional Schism). If the party refuses or fails to purify the spring, the blight consumes the surrounding towns. As panic spreads, Ambrose's drastic, ruthless methods earn him desperate followers, allowing him to break away from his church and spark a fanatical, nihilistic schism that threatens the entire region.
Optional Questions - not required
- What are the goals and motivations of your character? - Ambrose is driven by a narcissistic desire for fame, authority, and approval from the high elders of his religious order, using his heroic plague-doctor persona to mask his deep-seated vanity and nihilism.
- How do these affect your general personality? - In public, he is a theatrical, chivalrous, and remarkably poised savior who refuses to be seen as anything less than pristine. In private, he is cold, calculating, and unyielding.
- How do you normally interact with your family/friends/peers? With your enemies/rivals? With people who work for you/report to you? With player characters? - He greets adventurers with grand, theatrical courtesy—though he strictly avoids physical contact or shaking hands to prevent contagion—and quickly delegates hazardous field work to them.
- Do you have a particular accent or language? Any idiosyncrasies in how you act and speak? - He speaks Common in a rich, velvety, aristocratic tone. His main idiosyncrasy is snapping his leather plague mask onto his face with practiced, dramatic speed whenever an infected villager approaches.
- What impact have you made on the world? How have you shaped the local area? - He has successfully quarantined several frontier hamlets through iron-fisted, brutal efficiency, though his extreme methods have begun drawing suspicion from neighboring paladin orders.
- Do you have any current problems that prevent you from being a bigger player on the stage? - He is isolated on the far reaches of the kingdom, lacking the political backing from his church hierarchy to enforce his extreme doctrines on a kingdom-wide scale.
